Debt Free Debt Consolidation
My first Foray into SEO and lead generation, Debt Free Debt Consolidation was launched on a whim. Using some link purchases that were done with Creditcards.com, we were able to climb to the #3 Position in Google for “Debt Consolidation,” a position we held for over a year. Although the site was later banned, it provided a eye-opening experience into the importance of SEO, but also the importance of optimizing for conversion. When that ranking dropped, we finally turned our attention to our conversion, increasing it massively. Had we focused on that earlier, DFDC might have been a dominate site for the generation of leads.
We also learned the risk of scrapers, as a search spammer launched debt-free-debt-consolidation-relief.com, with a scrape and search and replace of our site. During Google’s early forays into duplicate content scrubbing, our site was wiped out in this process. It was a tremendous learning experience.
